No Time to Unwind

It has been less that 24 hours since I arrived at home and the anticipation of having a relaxing holiday has long past.

It seemed off to a good start.  My flights were for the first time smooth and pleasant.  My luggage however, decided to take its own world tour - but I was unfazed.  I was home, let the relaxing begin.

Not.

Let me first summarize my family. Weakness is not an option.  Laziness is inexcusable. As I was raised with these values, I also attempted to pass my own interpretation of them on to my son.   "There is no excuse for you not to be fit," is a now one of his favourite statements.

Hopefully that paints the picture for you.

This morning at about 4am I was enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee by the beautiful Christmas tree while also making my way through some work emails.  My mother soon joined me and asked why I had not yet gone for my daily run.  I explained that my clothes were on their own world tour, so I was unable to go.  An excuse I know, but I thought it was a darn good one.  Apparently not as within 5 minutes I was supplied with appropriate attire and pushed out the door.  It didn't end there either.  Shortly after returning from the jog I really did not want to do, my son with 5% body fat arose and told me it was time to go to the gym.  After downing a bit of pre-workout, we were off to the gym.  Like a trooper, I proceeded to do my workout routine. It was about then that my son expressed his disgust with my "girlie" workout and the bootcamp interpretation began.

Thankfully (!!) when I got back home my mother was waiting for me to join her on her daily two hour mountain hike.

Did I mention that this is also a ski holiday?

And that was only the first 20 hours.  I am starting to think that I may be the only person who actually manages to get more fit over the holidays…
